[White House]

Impeachment Murmurs Begin

Has Bush finally--finally!--inspired legislative spine to grow? Murmurs of impeachment have begun:
U.S. Representative John Lewis said in a radio interview on Monday that President Bush should be impeached if he broke the law in authorizing spying on Americans.

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has become the first in the Senate to raise consideration of impeachment of President George W. Bush for authorizing spying on Americans without warrants.

Sen. John Kerry said last night that if Dems retake the House, there's a "solid case" to bring "articles of impeachment" against President Bush for allegedly misleading the country about pre-war intelligence, according to several Dems who attended.

It's a long way from murmur to impeachment, but I like the trend.

John Lewis and Barbara Boxer have always had spines.

John Kerry, on the other hand, may simply be testing the political winds for a possible second run. He was a terrible candidate in 2004 and little that he says now will change that. To me, Kerry personifies the impotence of the Democratic Party, caught between support for, and opposition to, the war in Iraq.

I voted for Kerry and still have a Kerry -Edwards placard in my window as a protest against Bush.

This time around, however, I won't vote for anyone regardless of party who won't take a principled stand on matters as serious as war.

Let's leave aside the "does Kerry suck" debate--it was fairly well fought in 2003 and 4. I will say this, though: the idea of Kerry being involved in removing this president is just too delicious!
