[Polls]

Dubya in Freefall.

We interrupt our regularly-scheduled movie week to bring you a few interesting numbers.
Approve of Bush's ...
job as president: 34%
handling of Iraq: 30%
handling of war on terror: 43%
Okay, so maybe that's not so shocking--Bush is a national embarrassment, after all. But how about these numbers, from a poll Zogby released yesterday of active-service troops serving in Iraq. The findings are amazing:
  • 72% think the US should get out of Iraq, and of 21% of those (29% overall) think the US should get out "immediately."
  • Only 58% understand the US mission in Iraq; 42% say it is unclear what the mission is.
  • 85% said the U.S. mission is mainly “to retaliate for Saddam’s role in the 9-11 attacks.”
  • An additional 77% said they also believe the main or a major reason for the war was “to stop Saddam from protecting al Qaeda in Iraq.”
So the troops have no idea what they're doing there, they don't want to be there, and the reason they signed up and went there in the first place was a lie. There will be major hell to pay as a result--probably for decades to come.

Now, back to the movies...
