On NPR's MediaWatch show last night, the man who wrote the captions defended himself by saying that he was in the most wretched conditions of his entire life, he'd been up for over 48 hours, and that we should delay analysis to regard the task at hand of dealing with the crisis.
He said to "check back in a couple weeks" or something like that to do nitpicking. Hmmm....wouldn't it have been a bit easier to just admit to the (grave) mistake?
